Katy and I riding the train!

on our roof patio

My alarm when off this morning a little earlier than normal. I was up and out of bed by 7 am and out the door by 8 so catch my 9 am train. Katy and I enjoyed watching Labor Pains (with Lindsay Lohan) on the train. After the movie was over we both napped until we arrived in Sevilla around 11:30.
riding bikes in Sevilla

The train station was about a half an hour walk from the train station, but the guy in the tourist information office told us that it would take way longer and be a bigger hassle to take a bus, so we walked. It really wasn't too bad except the roads are so uneven and my rolling duffel bag kept tipping over.. WHOOPS!

Sevillan Cathedral
We're staying in a hostel called The Garden Backpacker. It's really not much to write home about. The kitchen and patio areas are pretty nice, and there's a great living room area with a flat screen tv, dvds, games and a Wii. The bedrooms are small, but do-able.

inside the Cathedral
We're staying in a 6 person bedroom, but since it's on the inside of the hostel with no windows outdoors, it get's really humid and muggy -- especially since there are only 2 outlets in our room, including the one that the fan (sometimes) is plugged into. The bathrooms here are nearly non-existent. There are seriously 3 toilets, 2 of which have a shower in them, for at least 20 people. Mornings are NOT fun with that many people and that few potties!! Add the fact that half the people here are 3 times my age... Not thrilled.. So much for a YOUTH hostel!!! But anyways...

at the top of the bell tower
After we dropped our stuff off in in the room Katy and I ventured around the hostel and ended up on the top floor on the patio to each our lunches that our senora's had made for us. It was so warm and coozy up there. In fact I think I got a little sunburnt! Who would have thought we could get tans in the middle of October!! LOVE IT!! :)

After our picnic lunch, Katy and I rented bikes from our hostel for 3 euros and rode around the city! So much fun! The pathways are mostly brick so that's kind of stinky and my rump hurts, but it was overall a great time!

our bikes were nearly
killed by the falling
orange tree!!!
serenading fellow hikers
We biked over to the cathedral, which is one of the biggest cathedrals in the world! It was only 2 euros for students to get in so we spent about 2 and a half hours walking around! It was so beautiful inside! We also climbed up in the bell tower (the giralda) which is 343 ft tall - the tallest point in Seville. It was quite the hike up! At floor number 12 I began to ask how close we were! On our way back down, Katy and I stopped at the 17th level platform and sang Living on a Prayer to everyone climbing up ("Ohhh you're half way there!!")! LOL!
in front of the Alcazar

After the Cathedral we went to check out the Alacazar, but it was closing in 10 minutes. So Katy and I rode our bikes down along the river and checked out some boat tours. They were all kind of expensive and looked boring, so we kept riding our bikes until we found a frozen yogurt bar. SO GOOD!!!

frozen yogurt!! :)

After our snack, we hit up a shopping strip on the way back to our hostel. I got a few Christmas presents for my Grandmother and Mom! Can't wait to give it to them! :)

by the Roman Aqueduct
Back at the hostel we took naps because we were signed up to go on a pub crawl with our hostel later that night. We woke up around 9 pm expecting to go grab a loaf of bread and eat the chorizo and ham that my senora had packed for us. Funny how NOTHING is open after 9 pm in this city! We ended up finding the Roman Aqueduct on accident, and then eating at this little restaurant. It was alright. I had some chicken and ham dish with french fries. When we got back to our hostel, we were sleepy and there was only one other person signed up to go on the pub crawl, so we crossed our names off and poor Paul went out alone! Once again - our hostel is LAME! Seriously, no one wanted to go on a pub crawl? dumb.
