Saturday, September 25th El Escorial

El Escorial
Today I got up early to go to El Escorial with my school. It was just Katy and I, and then a few German girls and two guys. It was a blast!

We met at a different bus stop than the last time. Naturally I miscalculated the metro and was late. Go figure. I'm really going to have to figure this business out!! We rode the bus for about 45 minutes. Katy and I read most of the way there.

While walking through the city, my clumsy self managed to slip and fall on my bootay and therefore struggled to climb up the stairs all day. To make it better, I was told the word "culo" whats for my butt -- while that is one term for your behind... it's not the word I wanted to use with my grandmother. Fail.

Anyways, during the morning we walked around the art and architecture museum, the palace part, the hall of wars, and the king's family's quarters. We learned a lot about the history of Spain! The whole building is so pretty and I was super bummed that I couldn't take any pictures inside!

we're goofy :)
When we took a break for lunch, Katy and I had a picnic outside of El Escorial. There was a wedding getting ready to start so we got to see all of the pretty dresses and head pieces! After our picnic we went on a mission to find some coffee! :) Thankfully we found some (and some churros)!

After lunch we toured the church (AMAZING!) and the library. Overall, I really enjoyed El Escorial! It was so beautiful!! :)
